Leavin' on a Jet Plane

This little journey of mine officially began on Monday September 5th at Houston Intercontinental Airport.

seesters :)

perfection!

dark, i know. but it's all the only one with mommy!

I checked my bags, said goodbye to my family (tears were surprisingly kept to a minimum), boarded the plane and away I went. My flight was from 8:35 Texas time until 11:40 London time. My initial plan had been to sleep with the aid of Benadryl so I could wake up rested and in sync with the time change. This is a lot easier to do when I actually have Benadryl; mine was in my checked luggage and thus out of my reach. Instead of trying to get sleep without the aide of medicine I did the next most rational thing; watched in-flight movies.

  1. Something Borrowed-Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson, and John Krasinski. Just like the book. Ginnifer Goodwin is relatable and I love to hate Kate Hudson. Overall it was enjoyable!
  2. Last Night-Interesting. It has one of those ambiguous endings; I hate those. But OMG is Kiera Knightly's husband hot!
  3. The Lincoln Lawyer-Matthew McConaughey and Ryan Phillipe. Yummy and yummier. Not gonna lie. I fell asleep about an hour in. I liked what I saw but fatigue won. Oh well.

Unfortunately the weather in London was so bad that it delayed many flights from Heathrow; the entire schedule was backed up and we had to wait 'in the hole.' So I got to stay on an airplane with three crying babies for an extra 45 minutes, lucky me! Once I landed I went through security again, got some Starbucks and waited for 3 hours for my next flight while trying to stay awake. Once we boarded the plane we sat at the terminal for another 2 hours before we could take off. The worst part of all of this? I had no way to contact my host family to tell them that my flight was delayed. They waited at the airport for me for two hours, yikes! I felt so bad! They were very polite about it which was great. When they brought me back to their house I got a tour and I promptly unpacked and went to sleep.

Next : My first days in Groß-Gerau!
